Bunny Marthy

Bunny Marthy was the stage name of South African electronic music producer Michael Marthin Swart. Active from 2014 until his death in 2020, he was a pivotal figure in the global Deep House movement. Renowned for his distinctive sound, Marthy co-founded the label Tenth Street Music with DJ Hatitfi, establishing a brand of hypnotic, driving rhythms and precise percussion that defined a generation of African house music. His infectious productions garnered widespread critical acclaim and dominated the digital charts, notably holding the title of the most streamed artist on Spotify South Africa. Marthy’s work bridged the gap between local African club culture and the international mainstream, cementing him as a foundational architect of the African electronic music landscape.
