Bob Marley

["reggae"]

Bob Marley (1945–1981) was a Jamaican singer and songwriter renowned as a reggae pioneer. Fronting The Wailers, the artist blended ska, rocksteady, and Rastafarian spirituality to create a signature sound defined by heavy bass and rhythmic percussion. His anthems, such as "One Love" and "No Woman, No Cry," became symbols of peace and resilience, spreading reggae’s influence far beyond its island origins. Marley survived a 1976 assassination attempt to continue his mission, eventually becoming a cultural ambassador for Jamaica. He was the first non-US or UK band to top the US pop charts. His music remained hugely influential after his death from cancer at age 36; he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, securing an enduring legacy.
